The Thema Group and Partners S.a.r.l and the Provincial Government of Tanganyika had at the time designed an urban transport project for the city of Kalemie.
The project called Kalemie Urban Transport for short (TUK) which was intended as a solution for mass transport and a model of
modern urban transport for the republic. Reliable, fast, organized and structured and above all accessible at a lower cost.
The project (TUK) was designed on the development plan along the road from the port to the airport, with two branches,
one on Boulevard Lumumba, south-east direction and the other on the avenue de la Source towards Boulevard Joseph Kabila
passing by the new Stadium. These lines should constitute lines 1 and 2 of the project (TUK). Although suspended for
financial and political reasons, the TUK project is a model to materialize because, not only this project contributes to
the creation of jobs, but also to the promotion of tourism by the fact that, on the sections or lines of the project,
modular stops will be built there, which will contribute to improving the image of the city of Kalemie.
